Stunt Bike Based on a KTM 690 Duke
Grigory Taldykin recently switched to a new bike, a KTM 690 Duke. An unusual motorcycle: something between a motard and a street bike. Its steel frame, fuel injection and light weight make it quite attractive for training. But as usual with such «exotic models», you can't buy ready-made setups. Everything had to be designed and made by hand.
Protection
The motorcycle is light and narrow. Plastic pegs on the wheel axles and on the cage handle the loads quite well. The subframe pegs also serve a protective role in some crashes. Overall, the load falls on the cage pegs, the rear wheel pegs and the handlebar.
Handbrake
An external steel bracket was used here. The top plate was welded on, since the bracket was tearing the swingarm. The brakes aren't enough, and Grigory is going to weld on another caliper. The master cylinder is the classic 13 mm Magura. This motorcycle has a hydraulic clutch, so fitting two Maguras isn't easy.
Subframe
The subframe is made fully detachable with minimal modifications to the plastics. All parts are removable. In its full configuration (4 pegs and two hooks), the subframe lets the rider move around the motorcycle in quite a variety of ways.
Sprocket
An exclusive 60-tooth rear sprocket with the logo of Grigory's team!
Engine
Everything is stock for now. There have been no engine problems, and none are expected :)
Suspension and brakes
Everything is stock. Although there is a single brake disc at the front, it's enough to do long rolling stoppies (the motorcycle is light).
Handlebar
A thick handlebar (fatbar) is fitted as standard. The bend is quite comfortable, so only the angle was changed.
Grigory told us about his motorcycle himself and showed a couple of tricks :)
