Sportster LED lights installation

Our custom built Sportster XLH1200 Roadster is one of the most beautiful sportsters we've ever seen. Nice Anniversary color, chrome package, the coolest Harley-Davidson wheels and a nice sports seat with a Mickey Mouse dashboard. The motorcycle is in excellent condition despite its age. The only thing is the lights as they don't work properly - they aren't bright enough by today's standards.

Tinted turn signals lenses don't look good anymore, either due to age or poor quality. The stop sign is muddy. The headlight lens is in a perfect condition but it's dim.

It only makes sense to replace the lights with diode ones: they are much brighter, consume less energy and fit the design perfectly on any motorcycle thanks to its precise lines, transparent lens and cold light.

Turn signals

It's not the best idea to change all turn signals on this motorcycle - this is the original Harley-Davidson classic, and we's like to keep the original look. We have selected the best Kuryakyn LED inserts, which are installed instead of light bulbs and standard lenses. The metal base is for good cooling, the lens is made of high-quality wear-resistant plastic, the mount is reliable - it fixes the lens well in the housing.

These inserts are made double-contact (running lights and main turn signal light), but we had single-contact turn signals at the back (only the main turn signal light). In the video we showed how easy it is to put double-contact insert in single-contact holder.

Without resistance, these turn signals, when turned on, produce constant light and do not flicker. The simplest and most reliable solution is to install the block with original connectors.

Headlight

On our motorcycle, the remote connectors are hidden in the headlight housing. And that's why the larger Custom Dynamics LED light did not fit. The aluminum housing of the new headlight is equipped with cooling fins, which increase the size (without them, the diodes will quickly fail).

The easiest way to fit the headlight is to replace the bulky original connector with something more compact. We have not found a better solution.

The Custom Dynamics LED headlight with three low beams and two high beams is brighter than the original headlights on new motorcycles.

Brake light

The retro-lined low-profile Probeam brake light we've already installed on our Low Rider S, and it was bright and looked great. In both cases, we opted for the low-profile option because we raised the bike tail a bit.

The standard sticking out brake light looks good when it is parallel to the motorcycle itself - this makes the silhouette more furious. But we believe that when it sticks up a little, it looks a bit pretentious.


As a result, the motorcycle looks more fresh and a bit more modern. The new LED lights are brighter and more noticeable on the road, and the headlight makes it safer and more comfortable to ride at night on darker roads.
